A 65-year-old man dies after slipping while boarding a moving train at a Jharsuguda railway station

Jharsuguda : In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old man died after slipping while attempting to board a moving train at Jharsuguda Railway Station Platform No. 1 on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as B. Shivshankar Sahu (65), a resident of Sarangpur village under Melchhamunda police station limits in Bargarh district.

According to Government Railway Police (GRP) officials, Sahu was trying to board the 12102 – Jnaneswari Express (Kolkata Shalimar To Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) when the incident occurred. The train, which arrived at platform no. 1 and at around 7:31 pm, had already begun moving when Sahu attempted to get on.

While trying to board the moving train, he reportedly slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform. Witnesses said that a few bystanders rushed to help and attempted to pull him out, but he was trapped and subsequently run over by the train.

Police said the body was recovered and sent for a post-mortem.
