Double Murder Case: Family members of Ex-BJD Leader Anup Sai called off their protest

Jharsuguda : The family members of Expelled BJD leader Anup Sai, who was arrested by Raigarh police of Chhattisgarh in connection with the murder of Kalpana Das and her 14-year-old daughter, called off their protest after submitting a memorandum to Jharsuguda District Collector demanding a CBI Enquiry.

Anup Sai’s elder brother Pramod Sai said, “We met Jharsuguda District Collector and he had suggested us to go to Judiciary but we said that we wanted to inform you about our demand and after which we will go to our home. Additionally, we have also handed over a memorandum to Jharsuguda District Collector for having a CBI enquiry in this case and he has assured that he will send our demand plea to the higher officials.”  

Jharsuguda District Collector, Saroj Kumar Samal said,” I told them that if you are not satisfied in the investigation process then they should go to the Judiciary and we cannot interfere in the investigation process and have asked them to call off their strike and even they have agreed. They have also alleged that they have been harassed in the midnight by the Chhattisgarh Police, in which they have given us and I will send it to the Home Department, Odisha.”

On Saturday evening, Sai�s family member, including Sai’s Mother Hemlata Sai, Wife Sushma, Son Subham, daughter Subrasmita Sai and his elder brother Pramod Sai,��along with others had arrived at the office of the Jharsuguda Collector and had sat in dharna alleging harassment by the Chhattisgarh Police.

However, refusing to the allegation by the family members,�Additional Superintendent of Police, Raigarh,�Abhishek Verma, said that ” Based on the evidence we had sent notices to a few people and have asked them to support the enquiry process and help police to do its investigation. In any form, we have no intention to trouble any of the family members.”
