Jharsuguda Fishery and Health Department collects fish samples for formalin tests

Jharsuguda: A joint team of Jharsuguda Fisheries and Health Department officials on Tuesday morning collected the samples of fishes from the market to check the presence of formalin.

The samples were collected from the fish market Near Bus stand, Bombay Chowk and B.T.M. Area and Wholesale market in the district headquarters town here, an official of the joint team said, adding the samples would be sent to Bhubaneswar Food Testing Laboratory for further examination.

“This is the first time we are collecting the samples from Jharsuguda district, as per information some fishes are locally bought whereas others are coming from Andhra Pradesh. As the food safety officer was not present in Jharsuguda district so it was delayed. However, our food safety officer along with fishery department officials we have collected the samples and would send to the Laboratory and after two to three days we would get the report.”� said Dr Dolamoni Patel, Jharsuguda Additional District medical officer.
