Jharsuguda Lok Mahotsav kicks off
Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda Lok Mahotsav began on Sunday with a lot of grandeur with thousands of people from across Jharsuguda and outside the district thronged Man Mohan M.E. School to witness the inaugural ceremony of 5 days cultural extravaganza of the district. Hundreds of local artists gathered here to display their skills at the five-day cultural extravaganza.
A cultural “Sobha Yatra” was held on Sunday afternoon from Jhadeswar Temple to the event ground.
“Every year, on the occasion of Jharsuguda district formation day celebration, this Lok Mahotsav is being celebrated on January 1st. The event focuses on promoting the local folk dance and culture of the area. This year around 1000 artists will take part on these 5 days, cultural programme belongs from within the district and outside district also. Even this year around 295 stalls of various handicrafts has been put up.”Said Tapas Ray Choudhary, member co-coordinating Committee, Dulduli
The Dist. Mahotsav, which is being organised for the past 15 years, aim to revive dying local art forms.
On inaugural day, Dulduli Baja, Chhattisgarhi Dance, Mahari Dance, Horse Dance, Sambalpuri Dance and Pala were staged.
The Mahotsav was inaugurated by Jharsuguda District Judge Gopal Chandra Pattnaik along with Jharsuguda District Collector Bhibuti Bhusan Pattnaik, Harish Ganatra, Chairman, Jharsuguda Municipality, Ram Chandra Pradhan Executive Officer, along with many other dignitaries were present.
