OPGC Celebrates 42nd Foundation Day at IB Thermal Power Station

 

Jharsuguda: Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. celebrated its 42nd Foundation Day with great enthusiasm through a vibrant two-day programme held on 14th and 15th November at ITPS.

The celebrations began with the ceremonial unfurling of the OPGC flag by Director (Operations) Sri Anjana Ranjan Dash, joined by Sr. VP (Operations) Sri Sukanta Mohapatra, Sr. G.M (HR) Subhashish Mukherjee, department heads, employees, and their families. A high-energy mini-marathon followed, flagged off at 7:20 AM from the helipad, drawing participation from over 600 runners across the employees, ladies, and children categories. Winners from each category were honoured with gold, silver, and bronze medals by Director (Operations), Sr. VP (Operations), and Ladies Club President Mrs. Sangita Dash.

As part of the Foundation Day initiatives, a plantation drive was conducted at the helipad, reinforcing OPGC’s commitment to sustainability. A blood donation camp, organised at IB Thermal Hospital in collaboration with the Red Cross, collected 46 units of blood from employees and their family members. Director (Operations) also visited patients at the ITPS Hospital, distributing fruits, and later attended the puja and havan performed at the Shiv Temple.

Managing Director Sri Kedar Ranjan Pandu addressed all employees virtually from the corporate office, extending warm greetings and appreciating the collective efforts behind OPGC’s sustained progress.

The highlight of the evening celebrations was a cultural gathering at the helipad ground, inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by senior officials. Director (Operations) acknowledged the unwavering dedication of both past and present employees in shaping OPGC’s growth. A special video showcasing OPGC’s remarkable journey featured messages from OPGC Chairman & Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Sri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, along with greetings from the Managing Director, Director-Finance, and Director-Operations. A colourful fete followed, with stalls put up by employees, families, local SHGs, and various agencies. The night concluded with an electrifying musical performance by renowned singers and a live band from the Odia film industry.

The second day featured an exhibition cricket match between OPGC veterans and young employees at Rajiv Gandhi Ground, followed by an exciting football contest between Associates and OPGC staff. The two-day celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural evening presented by employees, ITPS Ladies Club members, and school children, making the 42nd Foundation Day a memorable milestone in OPGC’s journey.
