JSW JFE Steel launches Geetu Seva Kitchen in Jharsuguda
Beyond a Kitchen, A Movement of Compassion
Jharsuguda: JSW JFE Steel has launched Geetu Seva Kitchen, a community service initiative aimed at providing nutritious meals to the needy, including patients’ attendants, orphanages and residents of old-age homes.
The initiative, started by Sangeeta Jindal, chairperson of JSW Foundation, is guided by the motto “Seva Paramo Dharma” — “Service is the Highest Duty” — and seeks to reach people in need by preparing and distributing food packets across hospitals and other welfare institutions.
At JSW JFE Steel, the initiative is being undertaken in association with members of Akanksha Ladies Club under the leadership of its president Priti Rai.
The kitchen was inaugurated on September 16 by Umesh Rai, whole-time director and CEO of JSW JFE Steel, in the presence of the company’s senior leadership team and members of the ladies club.
Soon after the inauguration, the kitchen began its first seva by distributing food packets among attendants of patients and housekeeping staff at Sanjeevani Hospital, Jharsuguda.
Officials said the initiative began with a team of around 30 women volunteers, brought together by a common objective of serving food with care, compassion and dignity.
Inspired by Sangeeta Jindal’s emphasis on supporting communities and people in need, the initiative aims to gradually extend its food distribution activities to hospitals, orphanages, old-age homes and other vulnerable sections of society.
The kitchen has been set up by the JSW JFE Steel management with modern amenities and a systematic process for food preparation and distribution. Special emphasis has been placed on maintaining hygiene, cleanliness and food safety for its smooth functioning.
Speaking on the occasion, Umesh Rai said, “Geetu Seva Kitchen reflects our belief that true progress is measured not only by industrial growth but also by the positive impact we create in society. This initiative embodies the spirit of compassion and collective responsibility, and I am confident it will touch many lives in the days ahead.”
Priti Rai said, “Every meal served through Geetu Seva Kitchen carries a message of care, dignity and hope. Our members are committed to making this initiative a meaningful movement of service that reaches those who need it the most.”
Officials said Geetu Seva Kitchen has begun its journey with an objective of becoming more than a community kitchen and developing into a sustained movement centred on compassion, service and support for the needy.
