Laxminarayan College Jharsuguda Hosts International Youth Day 2026 Workshop on POSH and POCSO Acts in Collaboration with DLSA
Jharsuguda: Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jharsuguda, celebrated International Youth Day 2026 by organising a comprehensive workshop on the POSH and POCSO Acts under the Shaktishree Empowerment Cell, aimed at promoting legal awareness, gender sensitisation and empowerment among students.
More than 200 students and staff members participated in the programme. The session featured insights from legal experts and academic coordinators on statutory rights, civic responsibilities, gender sensitisation, prevention of sexual harassment, child protection and available legal aid mechanisms.
The programme began with an introductory address by Dr. Swarnamayee Purohit, Coordinator of the Shaktishree Empowerment Cell, while Dr. Sumanta Kumar Patel, Principal of Laxminarayan College, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the crucial role of youth in nation-building and the importance of legal literacy.
Smt. Alokmayee Pradhan, Secretary, DLSA Jharsuguda, stressed the importance of empowering young people through legal knowledge. Mrs. Purnima Mayee Dash, Coordinator of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), explained the functioning, rules and regulations of the committee. Sri Aswini Kumar Naik, Chairperson, Permanent Lok Adalat, Jharsuguda, and Ms. Sazada Begum, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Jharsuguda, addressed the students on civic duties, statutory rights, gender sensitisation and legal aid services.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Puja Shah, Associate Coordinator of the Shaktishree Empowerment Cell. Dr. Gita Rani Dixit, former Principal, Sri Brajesh Kumar Sahu, HoD, Physics, Dr. Manish Kumar Dwivedi, YRC Counsellor, Dr. Visakha Singhania, Associate Coordinator of the Shaktishree Empowerment Cell, members of the Women Development and Gender Sensitisation Cell, Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell, teaching and non-teaching staff, and student representatives of the Shaktishree Empowerment Cell were also present.
