Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda District Union of Journalists, affiliated with the Odisha Union of Journalists, held a felicitation Ceremony at the Conference Hall of JDS Homeopathic Hospital in Sarbahal on Saturday. During the event, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy announced significant initiatives aimed at enhancing the district’s infrastructure and health sector.
Tripathy revealed that efforts are underway to construct a stadium in Jharsuguda. He also announced the establishment of a Trauma Care Unit, Burn Unit, and ICU at Jharsuguda Hospital, which will significantly improve healthcare services in the region. Additionally, an office dedicated to patient care will be set up in Burla to serve the Jharsuguda district.
In his address, Tripathy committed to advocating for the construction of a journalist’s building in Jharsuguda. He also proposed increasing journalist insurance coverage from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, including coverage for parents, implementing the Journalist Protection Act, and providing retirement pensions for journalists. He assured the attendees that he would discuss these proposals with the Chief Minister.
The meeting was presided over by Ritesh Kumar Sharma, President of the Association, while State Organizational Secretary Trilochan Das, along with former state vice-presidents Jeevan Mohanty and Upan Sahu, shared their perspectives. District General Secretary Artatran Sahu conducted the programme.
During the event, Vice Presidents Pyarelal Srivastav, Shekhar Bishi, Trilochan Das, Ritesh Sharma, Jeevan Mohanty, and Upan Sahu felicitated MLA Shri Tripathy with a bouquet, certificate, and flower bouquet. The association also presented a charter of demands to the MLA.
The meeting concluded with Vice President Mahendra Sai delivering a vote of thanks.
