Five held for murder

Jharsuguda : Badmal Police on Friday held five people for allegedly murdering a 29-year youth by stoning him after a heated argument between them over some issue at Kumhari Camp pada.

Police identified the accused as Sourabh Birtia (26yrs), Balmukund Seth (24yrs), Mahesh Seth(19yrs), Akash Marei (19yrs), all four are the resident of Kumhari while one 16-year-old juvenile has also been apprehended. The deceased was identified as Jotish Sahu.

As per the report, On the eve of Diwali, the five persons had called the deceased victim Jotish Sahu for drinking alcohol at night at 10 P.M., After consuming alcohol, they had a heated argument over some issue between them after which all the five people had stoned him to death and fled away from the spot. After receiving information, Badmal Police had reached the spot and shifted the victim to Jharsuguda District headquarter Hospital, where the victim died while on treatment.

Badmal Police registered the case and investigated the matter and arrested the accused involved in this case.

Jharsuguda SP Bikash Ch. Das said, “We had received the information and within 24 hours, all the accused involved in this crime were arrested. The deceased had an altercation with his friends at the time when they were consuming liquor, after which he was murdered through a stone. It was out of a sudden provocation; they had murdered the deceased.”
