Jharsuguda: A sex racket was busted at the Panchapara area in Jharsuguda on Saturday night. Police arrested 15 customers and rescued 13 women from the hotel.
Police arrested 15 people including the hotel owner Premanand Patel (62) and the lady pimp Sibani alias Tapaswani Mahanand (32), both residents of Jharsuguda.
In a Press Meet, Additional SP N.C. Barik said that “We received reliable information that illegal prostitution was going on at a hotel located at Panchpada Bypass by the side of Biju Express SH 10 by the hotel owner Premananda Patel of Panchpada, by procuring girls from different areas. On receipt of such information as per the direction of SP Jharsuguda a team was formed and the raid was conducted at the spot. After entering the hotel 13 male persons along with 13 ladies were found in compromising stages in different rooms. The owner was also present at the reception. The lady sex workers were rescued and later disclosed that they were enticed by the lodge owner Premananda Patel and the lady pimp Shivani alias Tapaswini Mahananda of Beherapat with the assurance of handsome earnings from doing prostitution. All the accused persons including the lodge owner Premananda Patel and the lady pimp Shivani alias Tapaswini Mahananda were arrested. “
Police had seized Cash of Rs. 11,300, two mobile phones, 8 two-wheelers, contraceptive pills, and other items.
