Anti-Hijacking Mock Drill conducted at VSS Airport, Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: An anti-hijacking mock Drill was conducted at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport Jharsuguda on Wednesday. The exercise was conducted by the Airport Authority of India. The mock drill began at 10 am.
The exercise was attended by Jharsuguda ADM Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, Jharsuguda Airport Director Pawan Kumar Zutshi, Chief Airport Security Officer Subash Bhoi, Jharsuguda along with Reserve Police and other agencies
During this mock drill exercise, Jharsuguda Airport Director Pawan Kumar Zutshi said, this hijacking mock drill is the preparation to be ready to deal with such real situations. If it arises then this is how the airport security and ATC (Air Traffic Control) will deal with the situation, he added.
The anti-hijacking exercise was conducted with a mock situation created and involved actions by various agencies. The anti-hijacking mock drill is conducted at every Indian Airport annually as mandated by the national civil aviation security to test the efficiency of the airport’s contingency plan and respective responsibilities in hijack situations.
