Western Odisha cheers the resumption of flight services from the Odisha’s second airport Veer Surendra Sai Airpot, Jharsuguda
JHARSUGUDA : Western Odisha cheered the resumption of flight services from the Odisha’s second airport Veer Surendra Sai Airpot, Jharsuguda . The first flight of SpiceJet Airlines from Delhi landed at VSS Airport on Sunday evening.
The Inaugural Boeing 737-800 flight of Spicejet, arrived from Delhi to Jharsuguda carrying 142 passengers landed at Veer Surendra Sai airport, Jharsuguda at 3:40 p.m. The flight which was delayed for 30 minutes due to some technical reason but this delay didn’t spoiled the excitement of the passenger travelling to Delhi from VSS Airport.
“Earlier we use to travel to Delhi via Ranchi , after three hours journey we use to get flight but from VSS Airport it will not only reduce the time but it will save money too as it has the cheaper airfare. ” said Shaurya Gautam , a resident of Rourkela who was also the first passenger to take the boarding pass for travelling Delhi from Jharsuguda.
“It will surely paved the way of all round development of Western Odisha, it is indeed a great step taken by the Government. Earlier we use to travel via Bhubaneswar which took 6 to 7 hours of Journey to reach our home. Presently, it has sorted out all the connectivity issue now people of western odisha staying outside can reach home whenever they can. It is one of the biggest development. said Pankaj Pujari a resident of Bargarh who arrived from Delhi on the inaugural flight.
“It’s an emotional moment for me. The moment ticket got opened in the system I guess I was the first one to book a flight to this VSS Airport. I am so honoured because I got a chance to flagged off the inaugural flight at Delhi Airport. It’s an wonderful moment that can’t even have words to express it.” said joyfully Itishree Nayak, a resident of Sambalpur.
There was a small inaugural function organised at the Jharsuguda airport in presence of Vedanta Ltd. CEO Abhijit Pati, Jharsuguda S.P. Ashwini Kumar, VSS Airport Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan and SpiceJet Officials who were present.
On Sunday, SpiceJet commenced flight for all the three sectors Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata from VSS
