Story-
Class of 83 is a vital Hindi cop drama. Vijay Singh (Bobby Deol), an honest and committed cop, gets punishment posting at the Maharashtra Police Academy as a Dean.
The move takes you the flashback, Vijay once gets a tip-off from the home minister (Anup Soni) turns out to be a traitor, to arrest a famous don, Kalsekar. But in return police officer’s gets killed in the shootout and Vijay, in turn, was demoted. His wife died recently, and his son hates him, wanting to kill himself.
The uncooked Vijay Singh becomes the head of the Academy. He decided to defeat the system by training five cadets to take down gangsters and corrupt bureaucracy. He calls it an experiment; the five will function like antibodies which will clean the virus from within the body. Singh gave a reason, why he has chosen them, “Tum log Dosti nibha lete ho lekin sach Bhi bol lete ho, rules todte ho lekin usool nahi chodte, fail hote ho lekin Apni shadton par.”
Plot-
Bobby Deol’s most exceptional performances in his digital debut. Deol is emotional, frustrated with his life, and you see precisely on his appearance. He doesn’t believe in the theoretical chapter instead trains the cadet gaily.
The cadets are played by newcomers Ninad Mahajani, Bhupendra Jadawat, Sameer Paranjape, Hitesh Bhojraj and Prithvik Pratap, all of whom delivered a reliable performance.
Final Verdict-
With a runtime of 98 minutes, Class of ’83 is sharp and focused. The plot is simple and straight forward. The director doesn’t even experiment with the character, which is why, despite the talent on display, it doesn’t soar. The film is based on the book “The Class of 83”. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, directed by Atul Sabharwal, written by Abhijeet Deshpande.
