Maa Medic Care, Belpahar, Donates Medicines Worth ₹65,000 for Assam Flood Victims

Jharsuguda: In a humanitarian gesture to support people affected by the devastating floods in Assam, Maa Medic Care, a medicine shop establishment based at Gumadera in Belpahar, donated essential medicines worth around Rs.65,000 through the Jharsuguda district administration on Tuesday.

The medicines were handed over to the district administration for onward distribution among flood-affected families in Assam, where thousands have been displaced and are facing acute shortages of food, shelter, healthcare and essential medicines following the floods.

The donation was made by Basanta Kumar Mohanty, owner of Maa Medic Care. He said the initiative was aimed at extending medical assistance to those struggling in the aftermath of the disaster.

“Service to humanity is the greatest service. During this difficult time, it is our responsibility to extend whatever support we can to our brothers and sisters affected by the floods in Assam. We hope this small contribution will provide some relief to those in need,” Mohanty said.

Officials said the donated medicines would be routed through the district administration as part of the relief materials being sent to the flood-hit state.

The initiative has been appreciated by locals , who described it as an example of corporate social responsibility and community service. With healthcare needs remaining a major concern in flood-affected areas, such contributions are expected to help supplement ongoing relief efforts.
