Jharsuguda Old DHH to be Operationalized as 25-Bedded Satellite Centre

Jharsuguda: In a significant development aimed at boosting healthcare infrastructure in the region, the Old District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) at Mangal bazaar in Jharsuguda is set to be transformed into a 25-bedded Satellite Centre, with inauguration expected on June 12, marking the first anniversary of the present Odisha government.

According to an official notification, the existing infrastructure of the Old DHH will be utilized to establish a Satellite Centre, depending on the facility’s demand. This centre will operate under the administrative control of the Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO), utilizing available resources from the main DHH.

The satellite facility will provide specialty services in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medicine, Paediatrics, and Surgery on a fixed-day basis. Additionally, specialized health camps will be conducted quarterly to ensure broader access to advanced healthcare services.

On Thursday, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, accompanied by CDMO Dr. M.M. Panda and medical staff, visited the site to assess the ongoing renovation work.

Speaking to the media, MLA Tankadhar Tripathy said, “On behalf of the people of Jharsuguda, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling. This initiative to operationalize the Old DHH at Mangal bazaar has been approved by the Government of Odisha and will include facilities such as X-ray, laboratory services, and treatment for all diseases.”

He added that the facility will initially function as a 25-bedded hospital, supported by CSR funds and district administration efforts, with scope for further expansion.

“The renovation work is underway, and we are making every effort to inaugurate the hospital on June 12,” Tripathy said.
