Jharsuguda: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a new 132/33 kV substation grid at Punji Pathara in Lakhanpur Block under Brajrajnagar Constituency today. The substation was constructed at a cost of ₹48.45 crore.

MLA Alaka Mohanty, who was present at the event, thanked the Chief Minister, Energy Minister, and 5T Secretary VK Pandian for fulfilling a long-standing demand. She said that the new substation will benefit around 1.25 lakh people in all 33 panchayats of Lakhanpur block.

The substation will help to eliminate the long-standing problem of low voltage in the villages and the problem of starting mega-lift irrigation. Previously, electricity service to Lakhanpur block was coming from the Brajrajnagar grid station. This caused low voltage problems. A total of ₹48 crore has been spent on this project.

Collector Smt. Aboli Sunil Naravane and SP Smith P. Param were the chief guests at the inauguration ceremony of the grid station today. The new substation is expected to improve the quality of power supply in the area and boost economic activities. It will also help to improve the living standards of the people.
