Mob attacks Police Station after the death of a youth in a road accident


Jharsuguda : After the death of a 22-year-old youth who died in a road accident at NH 49 on Friday night under Rengali Police station of Lakhanpur Block of Jharsuguda District, an irate mob had attacked the Rengali police station and created ruckus in the police station premises.

The deceased was identified as Sagar Meher (22) a resident of Palsada. He was travelling on his bike from Bhimkampali to Panchgaon, when he met with an accident with an unknown vehicle.

However, his family member alleged that he has been hit by a Police Control Room (PCR Van) and his body was immediately taken from the spot along with his bike without the knowledge of family members of the deceased victim.

As per the sources, after the accident, the local irate mob had entered Rengali Police Station at late night and created ruckus protesting the accident and demanding proper compensation.

Jharsuguda SP Bikash Ch. Das said, “As per the FIR given by the family members, it is written that an unknown vehicle has hit the bike of the deceased. After the accident, local people had informed the police regarding the accident and later PCR van had gone and shifted the dead body to TRL hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. However, we will investigate the entire matter. If the deceased has been hit by a police vehicle or some other vehicle. Simultaneously, I strongly condemn the action of the local mob which have damaged Rengali Police Station premises. We will take action on it. Meanwhile, on the administrative ground, the IIC of Rengali Police station has been shifted to Dist. Police Headquarter.”
