Jharsuguda station expansion plan takes shape, platforms to increase to 10

Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda railway station is set for a major infrastructure upgrade, with plans to increase the number of platforms from five to 10 and develop additional railway lines to handle growing operational requirements.
South Eastern Railway general manager Anil Kumar Jain reviewed the proposed expansion during an inspection of the station, railway yard and operational facilities on Thursday.
Officials briefed Jain on the ongoing works and infrastructure requirements for the proposed platform expansion. He also reviewed passenger amenities and operational arrangements at the station.
Jain inspected safety measures at the Jharsuguda railway yard and asked officials to ensure strict compliance with prescribed railway safety norms.
As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, he interacted with students of BNR School, Jharsuguda, and spoke to them about waste segregation, collection and scientific waste management.
The general manager also carried out a window-trailing inspection of the Jharsuguda-Sardega section.
During the visit, Jain held discussions with MCL officials on increasing coal loading for power generation. The discussions centred on improving loading and supply arrangements, ensuring uninterrupted and timely coal movement and increasing loading capacity to meet power-sector requirements.
The inspection covered key infrastructure, operational and safety issues in the Jharsuguda section.
