26ft Eco-friendly Ganesha at Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Adding colour to the ongoing Ganesha festival celebrations, The 26 feet Ganesha idol has become a centre of attraction at Jharsuguda.

This Ganesha Idol has been installed at Dubling Colony by the Youth Association. The Idol has been made by the artists from Kolkata who took a month to built this idol from eco-friendly materials like clay and watercolours.

Speaking to T. Keshav Rao, President of Youth Association, said, ” We have been installing Ganesh Idols at Dubling Colony for many years. Every year, we try to innovate, last year we had installed a Selfie Ganesh, in 2016, we had installed Bahubali Ganesh. So, this year to pull the crowd, we have made 26 feet Ganesh Idol which will be for the first time in Jharsuguda.”

“Initially, we wanted to make a 31 feet tall idol but the idol marker asks us to make 26 feet this year and increase the height subsequently. Around 2.5 Lakhs has been spent in making the idol.” he added

As due to the height of the idol, the Visaarjan (Immersion) of this idol will be done in an eco-friendly way, by the help of water, for which we have used watercolours.” said Sanjay Rout

“I usually visit this pendal because every year they innovate and make something new and this year’s eco-friendly idol is very good,” said a visitor
