Villagers demanded to reopen the closed factories

Jharsuguda: Local Villagers of Marakuta and nearby villages held a peaceful dharna in front of Jharsuguda collector’s office on Thursday, demanding to reopen the closed factories nearby their Villages.

The villager said that despite having two factories, MSP Metallics and Action Ispat nearby our village, these factories have been lying closed for the past five years. Local Villager who had been working, have been left unemployed here even the women of these villages have to go to another village to earn their livelihood.

Due to the closure of the factories, the land where the factories were built, is also being wasted.  Even before this agitation villagers had tried to seek help by writing letters to the Government and Administration too but till now nothing has happened.

The Protestor, Ashish Gardia said, “The main aim of this peaceful protest is that Government should re-start the closed factories so that we can get employment. Both MSP Metallics and Action Ispat and Power Limited, factories were established in around 2004-2005 and now it’s been 5 years both the factories are lying closed. Due to this, hundreds of villagers have become unemployed. After all these years no one has come forward to re-open these closed factories. All we want that, Government should re-open the factories here or else return back the land to the residents.”
