Jharsuguda: In view of the upcoming Rathyatra Festival, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Jharsuguda, conducted an extensive foot patrolling exercise on July 9 to review security preparedness and ensure foolproof arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the festival.
The foot patrol was carried out in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jharsuguda, and the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Town Police Station. The team covered key locations, including Sarbahal, Jhanda Chowk and Shani Mandir, where major Rathyatra festivities and public gatherings are expected.
During the visit, the SP interacted with members of various Rathyatra Committees, local residents and shopkeepers to assess the proposed procession route and review the security measures being put in place. The interaction focused on strengthening coordination between the police, festival organizers and the public to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.
The police advised the organizers to install adequate CCTV cameras along the procession route and at key congregation points, make proper barricading arrangements, regulate entry and exit points, and ensure the availability of public address systems for effective communication during the festival.
Special emphasis was also laid on emergency response preparedness, deployment of fire safety equipment, traffic diversion and parking management, adequate street lighting, and the deployment of sufficient volunteers to assist in crowd management.
