Among the injured, a mother, Khirabati Bariha and her son, Biranchi Bariha duo suffered serious wounds and were admitted to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment.

According to Khirabati Bariha, one of the victims, the incident occurred while her son was working in their garden. “Suddenly, a wild boar attacked him from behind. Hearing his screams, I rushed to help, but the animal turned on me and attacked my stomach. Both of us sustained injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital,” she said from her hospital bed.

Her son, Biranchi Bariha, recalled the harrowing encounter, saying, “I was working at the backside of our garden when the wild boar attacked me unexpectedly. I got injury on left hand , left thigh , back My mother and a neighbour also got injured while trying to intervene.”

The incident has raised concerns about the increasing movement of wild animals near human habitations, possibly due to shrinking forest cover and food sources. Forest officials have been informed, and a team has been deployed to track and drive the animal back into the wild.
