OPGC Ltd. Hosted Technical Conclave on Energy Efficiency in Collaboration with EESL.
Jharsuguda: IB Thermal Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC), in collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), on Wednesday organized a technical conference on “Advancing the Adoption of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries” at the IB Thermal Power Station, Banharpali. The event brought together industry leaders, technology providers, and energy experts to explore innovations and strengthen partnerships in energy-efficient technologies.
The conference began with the registration of industry delegates from leading organizations, including EESL, NTPC, IIEC, RSPL, JSW BPSL, Vedanta Aluminium, Tata Steel, Adani, Aditya Birla, and GMR. Prominent technology providers like Siemens, GE, AVEVA, and Armstrong also participated, reflecting a diverse pool of expertise.
The event officially commenced with a warm welcome address by Manas Ranjan Rout, MD of OPGC. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing for addressing energy sector challenges. He remarked, “This Technical Conclave, organized in collaboration with EESL, serves as a vital forum for exchanging knowledge, exploring cutting-edge technologies, and fostering partnerships. It is through events like these that we can collectively address the challenges facing the energy sector and seize opportunities for innovation and growth.”
Following the welcome address, Girija Shankar, General Manager-Technical, EESL, set the context for the conclave, emphasizing the potential of energy-efficient technologies. Keynote addresses were delivered by distinguished speakers, including Prashant Kumar, Head-CDP and CGM-Technical, EESL; Ashok Kumar, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency; Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC (via virtual mode); and Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary, Energy, Govt. of Odisha (via virtual mode). The Chief Guest, Praveen Gupta, Member (Thermal), Central Electricity Authority, shared valuable insights on energy policy advancements.
The second session featured a panel discussion on “Opportunities & Challenges in Adoption of Energy-Efficient Technologies and Energy Transition – Industry Perspectives.” Esteemed panelists included Hare Ram Singh, GM (O&M), NTPC Darlipali; Deepak Roy, CGM (Power), RSPL; Manoj Kumar Patwari, VP & CPP Zonal Head, JSW BPSL; Sunil Kumar Satya, CEO, Power, Vedanta Aluminium; Rajesh Agarwal, Chief of Power Utility, Tata Steel; and Manas Ranjan Rout, MD, OPGC.
Subsequent sessions involved technical presentations. On behalf of EESL, DGM Sanjeev Ranjan spoke on “EESL Initiatives and the DEEP Portal.” From OPGC, Sr. VP Mr. Sukanta Mohapatra presented on “Empowering Sustainable Growth: OPGC’s Energy Efficiency Innovations.”
Representatives from technology providers like Siemens, GE, and AVEVA shared case studies highlighting successful energy-efficient implementations. Industry delegates from NTPC, Vedanta, Adani, and GMR presented best practices, concluding with an engaging Q&A session.
