Jharsuguda: Police Arrest Five in Dacoity Case; Stolen Truck and Iron Rods Recovered
Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda Town Police arrested five individuals involved in a dacoity case, including one who was a receiver of stolen goods. The accused have been identified as Pankaj Kumar (27), Roshan Prajapati (21), and Kalu alias Krishna Sahu (26), all residents of Malipada, Jharsuguda; Ranjan Kumar Yadav (22) from Housing Board Colony, Jharsuguda; and Ravi Paswan (32) of Sarasmal, Jharsuguda.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 10, 2024, when Kamlesh Prasad Beniwal, a Sundargarh resident, reported that his truck, driven by Manoj Sa, was hijacked while en-route from Shyam Metalicks and Energy Pvt. Ltd. The truck, carrying 20 tons of iron rods, was intercepted near Panchpada Bypass Road by five individuals in an Ertiga car. The accused allegedly held the driver at gunpoint, tied him up, and forced him into the car’s back seat. The suspects then drove off with the truck and later abandoned the driver in Simdega. After being rescued by passersby, the driver reported the incident to authorities.
Under the direction of the SP, Jharsuguda, a special team was deployed to investigate. The police conducted raids across various locations, including scrap godowns, leading to the arrest of the four dacoity team members and the receiver of the stolen goods. The truck, loaded with iron rods, was recovered along with other items, including the Ertiga car used in the crime, a country-made pistol, two live ammunitions, four mobile phones, and cash totaling ₹89,200.
