Akshaya Tritiya Celebrated in Jharsuguda, District Collector Performs ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ Ritual

Jharsuguda: The auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, signaling the commencement of the odia agricultural year, was celebrated with traditional fervor across Jharsuguda district. At a special ceremony organized at the Krushi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Badmal, District Collector Shri Kunal Motiram Chavan joined as the Chief Guest. Dressed in traditional Odia attire, the Collector performed the sacred ritual of ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’—the ceremonial first sowing of seeds—following Vedic rituals to invoke blessings for a bountiful harvest.
Marking this significant day for the agrarian community, Honorable Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed financial assistance under the ‘CM-Kisan’scheme for the Kharif-2026 season via virtual mode. In Jharsuguda district alone, a total of Rs. 7,82,64,000 was transferred directly into the bank accounts of 39,132 farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The beneficiaries span across five blocks- Laikera, Kolabira, Kirmira, Lakhanpur, and Jharsuguda. This includes 38,766 small and marginal farmers and 366 landless agricultural households, each receiving an installment of Rs.2,000.

“Akshaya Tritiya is a celebration of our soil and the resilience of our farmers. The District Administration’s primary objective is to effectively implement the State Government’s developmental initiatives at the grassroots level, strengthening the economic backbone of our farmers to build a ‘Viksit Odisha’, stated Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan. He further offered prayers to the Almighty for the happiness and prosperity of the entire farming fraternity.

The financial aid is strategically timed to assist farmers in procuring essential inputs like seeds and fertilizers for the upcoming Kharif cycle. The ‘CM-Kisan’ scheme aims to provide a social safety net to small and landless families, ensuring they are empowered and self-reliant.
