OPGC’s IB THERMAL POWER STATION RANKS TOP IN STATE SECTOR; AMONG NATION’S LEADERS IN PLF — CEA REPORT
Jharsuguda: Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) has achieved a significant national recognition in the Central Electricity Authority’s (CEA) performance rankings, based on data as of 31 August 2026. OPGC’s 1,740 MW power station has secured the 1st position among state-sector power stations nationally, 5th position among power stations across all sectors in India, and 3rd position among power stations with a capacity of more than 1,000 MW.
The power station’s leading position in Station Plant Load Factor (PLF) reflects its consistently strong operational performance, efficiency and reliability. The achievement also highlights OPGC’s continued commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, operational discipline and plant housekeeping while ensuring dependable power supply to Odisha’s grid.
Commenting on the achievement, OPGC stated that the milestone is a direct result of the unwavering dedication, discipline and synergy of Team OPGC. The company further emphasised that its continued focus on operational excellence, stringent safety standards and world-class plant housekeeping has enabled it to strengthen reliability and contribute to national progress.
With an installed capacity of 1,740 MW, OPGC is 100% owned by the Government of Odisha, while the entire generation from the power station is dedicated to GRIDCO Ltd. The latest recognition by the Central Electricity Authority further reinforces OPGC’s position among India’s leading-performing power stations and underscores its contribution towards reliable electricity generation and the strengthening of Odisha’s power sector
