Odisha Announces Measures to Uplift Outsourcing Employees
Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at improving the lives of outsourcing employees, the Odisha government has announced a series of measures, including a 25% pay hike, grievance redressal system, and experience-based pay.
The announcement comes as a welcome relief for outsourcing staff working across various government departments through service providers. They will now receive not only a significant increase in their monthly remuneration but also timely payments.
Addressing a long-standing concern, the state government has established the Odisha State Outsourcing Staff (OMBUDSMAN) to mediate and resolve disputes between these employees and service providers.
Furthermore, the initiative recognises the valuable contributions of experienced employees by offering them additional compensation based on their years of service. Women working as outsourcing staff will also benefit from extended maternity leave of up to 120 days for the birth of their first two children.
To streamline the process of addressing grievances, each department will designate a nodal officer to handle complaints from both outsourcing employees and service providers. Additionally, a software application will be developed to simplify the complaint filing process, making it easier for both parties to raise their concerns.
The new system ensures that the increased remuneration for outsourcing employees is protected. Additionally, all departments will collaborate with service providers to ensure the smooth implementation of these arrangements.
These initiatives demonstrate the Odisha government’s commitment to supporting its workforce and fostering a positive work environment that promotes efficient service delivery.
