Villagers nab robber who looted Rs 2 lakh from finance company employee

Jharsuguda: A group of villagers apprehended a robbery suspect in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday afternoon. The suspect, who is from Sambalpur, was caught while he was returning to his village after looting Rs 2 lakh from a finance company employee.

The incident took place near Telidihi village when the finance company employee was returning to Jharsuguda after collecting group loan money from Tumbadihi, Sarasmal. Four youths on two bikes stopped him near the Tumbadihi forest, put a gun to his head, and robbed him of a bag containing Rs 2 lakh.

The finance employee chased the robbers and pulled one of them off the bike near Telidihi village. The robber fell off the bike, and another escaped. Local people saw this, caught the robber, and handed him over to the police.

The Laikera police have registered a case and started an investigation. The robber is being interrogated by the police.

In a statement, the police said that the suspect had confessed to the crime. He has been arrested and will be produced in court.

The villagers’ quick action in apprehending the robbery suspect is a testament to their bravery and civic sense. They have set an example for others to follow.
