Cyber Fraudsters on the Loose in Brajrajnagar, Youth Duped of Rs 47,000
Brajrajnagar: A youth from the Thakurpada area under Brajrajnagar police station was robbed of Rs 47,000 by cyber fraudsters. However, the youth managed to recover Rs 32,000 of the stolen amount using his intelligence.
The youth, who has been identified as Suresh Pradhan, invests money in Bitcoin. A few days ago, he received some calls from someone who claimed to be from a Bitcoin investment company. The caller asked Suresh to deposit money in Bitcoin, so Suresh scanned the QR code three times and paid Rs 47,000.
However, Suresh later realized that he had been duped. He immediately contacted the cyber crime cell and informed them of the fraud. Cyber cell officials traced the money to a bank account linked to the mobile number that had called Suresh. They were able to seize Rs 32,000 from the account. However, the case is now being investigated by the cyber crime cell. The police are trying to track down the cyber fraudsters and bring them to justice.
