Polling official dies on the eve of Brajrajnagar By-poll
Jharsuguda : A day before the Brajrajnagar bye-election, a 45-year-old, second polling officer, Dilip Khadia of the booth no. 169 in Phalsadhipa Village under Loising Panchayat died on Monday evening.
As per the reports, Khadia was present at the polling booth along with other officials, after which he suddenly felt unconscious in the evening. He was rushed to Central Hospital at Mandalia in Brajrajnagar, where the doctors had declared him brought dead.
The exact cause of death is still not known.
Khadia was a resident of Tangarpali Village near Talpatia and was serving as an assistant teacher in Talpatia
Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Kumar Samal along with Jharsuguda BDO and other officials had also visited the hospital.
Jharsuguda Saroj Kumar Samal said, “ After getting information, I reached Hospital and learned from the doctor that he was received dead. As per the doctor, he might have suffered from a cardiac arrest. However, the exact cause of death will be known after the post mortem. We are treating him as on Poll duty and will refer the Election Commission, as there is a provision of providing Ex-gratia of Rs. 15 Lakhs. Presently, from the District Red Cross society the amount of Rs. 25,000 has been provided for the funeral. We will also help his child to complete his education. Meanwhile, we extend our deepest condolence to the family members.
