Six Arrested for Dacoity

Jharsuguda : Rengali police on Tuesday arrested six accused of allegedly committing theft of 69 Ductile Iron (DI) Pipes from the various sites of the Mega Lift projects in Lakhanpur Block of Jharsuguda District.

The Police identified the accused as Binod Raj Chouhan (46), resident of Rajnandgaon, Chhattishgarh, Pratap Singh (25), resident of Gurundia under Dist. Sundargarh, Sanjay Gond(20), a resident of Alideg Village of Chhattisgarh, Surendra Naik (47) Amush Munda (28) and Kailash Khadia (20) all residents of Parimunda Niktimal Sambalpur District.

As per the report, on the 26th of February night, the accused had committed theft of 9 DI pipes from Badimal area of Mega Lift Project and on the same day, they also committed theft of 60 numbers of DI Pipes of L&T company working at Amapali Site. They had transported the stolen pipes on two trucks bearing Numbers OD 23B-6466 and OD 23B – 2356 after threatening the staff.

In this connection, a case was registered at Rengali Police station and investigated the matter. The police arrested the accused Pratap Singh (25) who had confessed that he along with his associates had committed the theft f pipes from several places in the Kutra area, Bargaon, Rajgangapur, Hemgiri under Sundargarh district and Laikera and Rengali area under Jharsuguda District by using two twelve-wheeler trucks and disposed of the stolen pipes as Pujipathar (Raigarh) in a factory through one middle man.

All the accused has been forwarded to court today.
