Friends give newly married Jharsuguda couple �petrol� as a wedding gift, amid soaring fuel costs
The wedding reception happened in Purunabasti and the couple�s friends took this step to alert people about the rising fuel prices.
Jharsuguda : As fuel prices are soaring high across the country, a couple from Purunabasti in Jharsuguda was given petrol on their wedding reception by friends as a gift. Debasish Pattnaik and Shibani got married on Wednesday and had organised a wedding reception in Purunabasti in Jharsuguda Town. Friends of the groom who attended the wedding reception and handed over five litres of petrol to the couple as a present.
Sangram Mohanty, a working professional and his friends, gifted the newlyweds a can filled with petrol.
He reportedly told the media that this was an effort to create awareness on the rising prices of fuel across the country. �Fuel prices are rising steeply across the country. So, me and friends, decided to present the couple with petrol and alert the people about valuable product.�
�We want state govt and central govt. should take immediate steps to control and bring down the prices so that it won�t affect the pocket of the middle-class people.” He added
Debasish and Shivani were greeting guests at the wedding venue, when his friends came in and gave them this peculiar gift.
Another friend of the couple, Surendra Kar, said, �Since the fuel prices were surging for the last few weeks, we wanted to bring it to the fore how a common man had been getting affected due to the hike. The couple felt happy after receiving our gift.�
Presently, Petrol prices have reached Rs 87.88 per litre in Jharsuguda.
