Jharsuguda to become an Economic Gateway of this region : Dharmendra Pradhan

Jharsuguda : Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, on Saturday said that, the birth place of great freedom fighter of Western Odisha , Veer Surendra Sai’s Khinda Village will be developed as the top level Tourist Attraction along with the support of both Central and State Government, on the occasion of 213th birth Anniversary of Veer Surendra Sai.

In this occasion, Union Minister of Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled a Statue of Veer Surendra Sai at the premises of VSS Airport. Constructed by Mahanadi Coalfield Limited. The Statue has been made up of Bronze Alloy by Padmashree Ram Sutar with a cost of Rs. 45 Lakhs.

While addressing to the public at the event, he said, “Jharsuguda will become an economic gateway of Western Odisha, due to presence of Mines and Minerals along with various industries. Presently, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh together produce around more than 65 Million Metric Tons of coal. In coming five to ten years this production capacity will be around 250 Million Metric Tons, which will fuel the growth of the region. Even the total power generation will be around 15,000-20,000 MW. Here all the big industries in the sector of Aluminum, Steel, Coal Mines are already present.  Additionally, Western Odisha is also known for its forest produce, after the functioning of Airport, people from different areas for their need. Even the education sector here and service sector will also grow. Here the Tourism sector is taking a new shape, on the initiative of Government of Odisha, Hirakud Eco Tourism has been promoted. This give identity that what will be the future of Tourism of this region.”

Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, said, “At the time of inauguration of this VSS Airport, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik had demanded to name this airport on behalf of Veer Surendra Sai, I want to thank that this airport has been named after Veer Surendra Sai. Secondly, Govt. of Odisha is always ahead for the development of the VSS Airport. Even recently, when additional 19 firemen were required, Government has fulfilled immediately and it has also approved 155.38 Acres worth more than 200 crore for the development this airport. As per our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, whatever it is required for the development of Jharsuguda Airport will be provided.

He also added, “Government of Odisha will certainly try to make the birth place of Veer Surendra Sai  a Top-level Tourist Place.”
