“Ama Bus” City Bus Service Launched at Jharsuguda
A dedicated City Bus Service was inaugurated on Thursday to connect Brundamal to Jharsuguda District Headquarter Hospital situated at Malimunda.
This service was inaugurated by Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das at Bus Stand in the presence of Jharsuguda District Collector Saroj Samal and Jharsuguda Additional District Magistrate Pradeep Kumar Sahoo and other officials.
This city bus service was launched and made operational on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. A private operator, Paschim Odisha Paribahan Company (POPCO) has partnered with Western Odisha Urban Transport Services Limited (WOUTSL) to run and manage the city bus service in Jharsuguda.
While inaugurating this, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das said that” I want to thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik under whom, this city bus service has been inaugurated. This bus service will run from Brundamal to Jharsuguda District Headquarter hospital at a very nominal cost of Rs. 10 and if this bus service will be a success then we will increase the number of bus service in future too.”
This 13 Kilometre route between Brundamal and District Headquarter Hospital will have 15 stops which include Brundamal, Vedanta Township, Sunarimunda, Railway Crossing(Sarbahal), Sarbahal Chowk, Manmohan M.E. School, Mangal Bazaar Chowk, Jhanda Chowk, Bus stand, Shiva Talkies Square, Durga Mandir Chowk (Beheramal), Kisan Chowk, Court Square, S.P. Office Chowk and Jharsuguda Dist. Hospital.
Being the first passenger, Health Minister Naba Kishore Das and Jharsuguda District Collector Saroj Samal had also travelled in the bus along with the passenger from Bus stand to Jharsuguda District Headquarter Hospital.
“It’s a very welcome step taken by the Jharsuguda District Administration, We wanted this service. Now many poor people can avail this service and reach to the Jharsuguda District Headquarter Hospital to avail medical service easily.” said a local resident who boarded the inaugural bus service
