Belpahar’s Kalyani Behera selected for an Exposure visit to ISRO
Jharsuguda : Kalyani Behera, a student of Belpahar English Medium School has been selected in Top 20 winner for an exposure visit to ISRO. She has been selected in Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS 2019-20), organised by Tata Steel and Patani Samanta Planetarium.
This budding Astronomer will be visiting the India Space Research Organization (ISRO). Besides visiting the facility, she will also get one of those rare opportunity to interact with some of the top-notch space scientists of the country.
“Since my childhood, I was interested to become a scientist and had tried hard to get selected in this competition but after getting selected I am very excited to visit ISRO. I have several questions regarding many things including Chandrayaan-2 which I have planned to ask during the interaction with the scientists of ISRO.” said Kalyani Behera
“We have been supporting her as she was highly interested in this field and finally she got an opportunity to visit ISRO, WE are very happy and hopefully she will achieve her dreams in future too.”Said her parents Pramod Behera and
This year among 60 students, Kalyani Behera is one of the 20 final candidates who will be going to ISRO and She is the only girl selected from Jharsuguda district.
YATS, organized by Tata Steel in association with Pathani Samanta Planetarium, is regarded as one of the very popular initiatives for the school students of Odisha. It started in the year 2007 with an aim to identify and encourage the talents of the school children in the field of astronomy and space science to popularize the great contributions of the legendary astronomer of the state Pathani Samanta.
