Jharsuguda : Giving a boost to the Sports in Jharsuguda District, Odisha Minister of Sports and youth services Tusharkanti Behera on Sunday laid a foundation stone for the construction of Integrated Sports Complex at H. Kantapali , Jharsuguda.
The proposed Integrated Sports Complex will be built on 20.76 acres of land at H. Kantapali. It will have facilities like Athletic track, Football field, Swimming pool and Indoor Stadium, for which Rs. 1.5 Cr. has been sanctioned by the Sports Department for the primary works.
The foundation stone was laid in a function held at the H. Kantapali in the presence of Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari, Odisha Minister of Sports and Youth Services Tusharkanti Behera and Odisha State Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das, Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty.
“It will have facilities like basketball, Tennis court, Swimming pool, football field, Athletic track etc and in future we will also have a sports hostel in Jharsuguda for the benefits of athletes.” said Odisha state Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera
General Secretary, Jharsuguda District Athletic Association and Vice President Odisha Athletic Association, Tapas Ray Choudhary said, “Our main aim is to build one of the best Integrated sports complex in the Western Odisha, which would help the sports enthusiast and athletics to enhance their skills with all facilities. Beside all facilities, the swimming pool will be built with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.5 Cr. sanctioned by Western Odisha Development Fund (WODC). “
“There are no proper facilities for the players or sportsman to practice due to which most of the sportsman or athletics either opt-out for choosing sports as a career or they go out of state for getting better facilities. Once the Sports complex is built then it will totally solve this basic problem for each and every athletic and sportsperson of Jharsuguda District” said Shovan Deb, Junior selector OCA (Odisha Cricket Association) Ex-Ranji Player.
