CHIDOKAN CUP 1st SCKO (Shotokan Chidokan Karate Do, Odisha) State Karate Championship Concludes
Jharsuguda: 1st SCKO State Karate Championship �Chidokan Cup� organised jointly by Swayambhu Martial Arts Academy, Jharsuguda & Shotokan Chidokan Karate Do, Odisha was concluded on 16th August 2015 at Satsang Bhawan. The function was inaugurated by Jharsuguda Municipality Chairman, Harish Ganatra on 15th August.
Municipality Chairman said that, �Use of this Martial art should be used in a proper time but should not be used unnecessary to the poor and weak people. He also added that, this art has become necessary for everyone, which helps them to be equipped with self defense in danger especially girls.�
Around 300 participants from six districts i.e. Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bargarh, Rayagada, Sundergarh had participated in this Championship.
In the Closing ceremony which held on Sunday, 16th August 2015. �Western Odisha Development Council, Chairman Kishore Mohanty had grace the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Shotokan Chidokan Karate Do Federation India Chief Sensei Mahesh Khuswah as a Tournament Director, Organizing President Raj Kumar Tamang, JCI Jharsuguda President Sunit Agarwal, (Member) Manoj Mishra, and Organising Secretary Sensei P.S. Thapa.
The Best fighter of Chidokan Cup in Boys category was being awarded to Shiv Prasad Bhosagar of Sambalpur. He was awarded by a Cash Award of Rs. 5100 sponsored by JCI Club of Jharsuguda. Similarly, the Best Fighter of Chidokan Cup in Girls Category was being awarded to Nandini Gore of Jharsuguda. She was awarded a Cash Prize of Rs. 5100 sponsored by Jharsuguda Round Table 236.

The runner�s ups of Open Fight in Boys Category was Shubham Naik of Sambalpur and in Girls Category Bhagyashree Mishra of Jharsuguda
Kishore Mohanty said that, �I thank the Sensei P.S. Thapa �for organizing the State Level Championship in Jharsuguda, and said that organizing such event will encourage students to learn this art for their Self Defense.� �He added that, WODC has given 50 Lakhs for the development of the Indoor Stadium at Jharsuguda.
