Land Transferred for 100-Bed ESIC Hospital in Jharsuguda Within 24 Hours of MLA’s Meeting with Labour Minister

Jharsuguda: In a major breakthrough towards fulfilling a long-pending demand, land has been officially transferred for the construction of a 100-bed ESIC Hospital in Jharsuguda. The development comes within just 24 hours of Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy meeting Union Labour & ESIC Minister Ganesh Ram Khuntia in Bhubaneswar.

The IDCO (Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation) has transferred five acres of land located at Panchapada for the proposed ESIC hospital project. Along with the hospital, residential quarters for employees will also be constructed at the site.

MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, who has been consistently pursuing this demand since 2022, termed this land transfer as a significant step toward fulfilling his pre-election commitment made during the 2024 General Elections. “This long-awaited project is now becoming a reality. The ESIC Hospital will ensure quality healthcare for the workers and their families in Jharsuguda,” he said.

The ESIC Corporation, in its 188th meeting held in June 2022, had approved the establishment of 23 new ESIC hospitals across the country, including the one in Jharsuguda. Although the proposal was cleared in 2022, the land identification and transfer process had faced delays despite the lease being formalized in October 2024.

Following repeated discussions and intervention by MLA Tripathy, a high-level meeting was convened yesterday where a deadline for land transfer was finalized. Acting swiftly, IDCO completed the formal land handover today, marking a decisive move in the execution phase.

Following the land transfer, BJP leaders and local residents expressed gratitude to MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, stating that once operational, the hospital would benefit thousands of industrial workers and their families in and around the district.

The official handover event saw the presence of IDCO Officer Amulya Bag, ESIC Assistant Executive Engineer Sandeep Goel, and other ESIC officials. From the BJP, prominent leaders like Premsen Ray, Arvind Pathak, Raghuram Pal, and Santosh Yadav were also present to witness the milestone.

With this step, Jharsuguda moves closer to realizing a long-cherished healthcare facility that will not only serve the local workforce but also ease the burden on the existing medical infrastructure.
