Jharsuguda: An irate mob in Jharsuguda damaged a car on Friday for allegedly transporting Beef (Cow Meat) towards Rourkela. The car was intercepted by Bajrang Dal members. The situation was aggravated after the local people also joined the protest and blocked the main road at Jhanda Chowk for several hours in this protest.
However, Police administration who reached on the spot had a minor scuffled with the protesters.
As per the sources, acting on information provided through an anonymous source, members of Jharsuguda Bajrang Dal, intercepted a private Bolero Car (OR – 15 K 8158) laden with over 6 Quintal of beef and managed to overpower the car at Jhanda Chowk. They broke the glass of the Car and overturned the Car. The Driver of the car was caught and handed over the Police. Another person who was accompanying the driver managed to flee from the spot.
After the intervention of district administration, the local people lifted the road block after the sample was taken for the Lab test.
Jharsuguda Town Police Station IIC Nirmal Mohapatra, said that “A case had been registered, along with the seizure of the Bolero Car (OR – 15 K 8158). A sample has also been drawn from the meat in presence of Health Inspector of municipality which has been sent for Lab Test. In this connection the Driver of the Vehicle Md. Rustam has been arrested under Section 7 of Orissa Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. And currently the situation was under Control.”
