Innovative Effort by Bagdihi Forest Department for Fire Prevention

Jharsuguda: A one-day football tournament was organized at Handatopa playground in the Bagdihi forest area under Jharsuguda forest division under the supervision of forest officer Bandana Pasayat. The event aimed to raise awareness and find solutions for forest fire prevention.

Eight teams from various villages within the Bagdihi forest area participated in the tournament, including Banki, Kadobahal, Handatopa, Malibeura, Bungaberen, Sarasamal, Sulehi, and Jatipada. Malibeura emerged as the winner of the tournament.

The event was graced by Bhimjor Sarpanch Man Bag and Kirmira Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairperson Savitri Majhi as chief guests. All young players and residents of Handatopa village were informed and took an oath on how to minimize forest fires in the Bagdihi area, pledging to “Come together to protect the forest from fire.”

Forest officer Bandana Pasayat, Forester Murari Prasad Sahu, Amir Patel, team leader Chudamani Behera, and all staff members of the Bagdihi forest area actively contributed to the success of the event.
