Jharsuguda Police crack Talmunda dacoity case within three days; nine arrested

Jharsuguda: Demonstrating swift action and effective investigation, Jharsuguda Police have cracked the dacoity case reported from Talmunda village under Laikera police station within three days of the incident and arrested nine accused persons involved in the crime.
Police identified the accused as Deepak Khadia (25) of Dengisargi Village under Bareipali police station, Ashok Khadia (20) of Sukhapada Village under Bareipali police station, Akash Sahu (24) and Ajay Munda (19) of Panchagachhia under Ainthapali police station, Dhanurjay Khadia (47) of Sarupada village under Sason police station, Bablu Barabhaya (22) & Bishal Oram (27) of Lachhmanpada village under Rengali police station, Bhola Nayak (25) of Blockpada Village under Rengali police station, all in Sambalpur district, and Biswajit Pasayat (27) of Talmunda village under Laikera police station in Jharsuguda district.
According to police sources, the dacoity took place on the night of March 2–3 at Talmunda village. Soon after receiving information about the incident, senior police officers rushed to the spot and launched an investigation on priority. Based on the complaint lodged by the victims, a case was registered and a detailed probe was initiated.
Police secured the crime scene and conducted a scientific examination. Investigators collected cellular tower dump data and analysed CCTV footage from nearby locations to track down the suspects. Multiple police teams were formed and both technical and field intelligence were used to identify the culprits.
Following sustained efforts and coordinated investigation, police succeeded in identifying and apprehending the accused persons involved in the dacoity. During the operation, police recovered several stolen items including gold-like chains, mangalsutras, finger rings, bangles, ear ornaments, silver ornaments, brass utensils, a golden-coloured Timex wristwatch, and cash amounting to Rs. 1,43,803. In addition, eight mobile phones, a knife, a baseball bat, a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number OR 15 S 3543, two pairs of hand gloves and three face masks were also recovered.
Police said the accused will be produced before the court under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, while further investigation into the case is continuing.
