Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan Launched for Tribal Development in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a major initiative aimed at the holistic development of tribal communities, the State and Central Government have jointly rolled out the “Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan”, a mass movement that became operational across 22 districts of Odisha from August this year. Jharsuguda district is among the beneficiaries of this ambitious programme.
As part of the initiative, 78 tribal-dominated villages under 41 Gram Panchayats across 5 blocks of Jharsuguda have been included. The campaign has been introduced as a comprehensive extension of the “Dharati Aaba Janajatiya Gram Unnati Abhiyan Yojana”, which was launched on October 2 last year to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the observance of Janajatiya Gaurav Year.
Under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, government departments such as Education, Health, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Rural Development, Women & Child Development, Forest & Environment, and ST & SC Development will actively participate. The campaign’s core objectives include:
•Extending administration and governance to the grassroots level of tribal villages,
•Disseminating government welfare schemes,
•Ensuring access to essential services, and
•Creating 20 tribal cadres in each village to act as Adi Sahayogis and Adi Karmayogis, who will serve as bridges between the government and tribal communities.
To facilitate these services, village service centres have been identified—operating mainly from local schools, community centres, Anganwadi centres, or Gram Panchayat offices. Over time, after multiple phases of training, Village Action Plans will be prepared and executed in the identified villages by integrating various departmental schemes.
