Establishment of a Nandankanan-level Zoological Park and Animal Sanctuary in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: The residents and social activists of Jharsuguda, have submitted a memorandum through the District Collector to the Chief Minister, demanding the establishment of a Nandankanan-level Zoological Park and an Animal Sanctuary in Jharsuguda. Many natural sites exist in Jharsuguda, and some of these locations, deemed suitable, have been proposed in the memorandum.

Jharsuguda has excellent transportation facilities. People can directly travel to Jharsuguda from various cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Additionally, star hotels and resorts are available here for accommodation. Therefore, efforts should be made to promote tourism in Jharsuguda.

Being a district rich in industry and mining, there is a continuous influx of people from outside, leading to a diverse population residing here. However, due to the lack of good recreational places to visit in their free time, people often feel disappointed.

Tourism not only aids social and economic development but also plays a significant role in promoting the culture, traditions, language, history, cuisine, and handicrafts of the region. Since Jharsuguda serves as the gateway to Western Odisha, developing tourism here will increase the number of visitors, ultimately bringing recognition to other scenic spots in Jharsuguda and neighboring districts.
