Jharsuguda: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in an abandoned building near Jharsuguda Bus stand on Thursday. The matter came to light after the video of the heinous crime went viral on social media on Friday.
Jharsuguda police along with the help of Jharsuguda Govt. Railway Police detained the accused involved in the incident and identified as Hemraj Besan (29), of Naxapali, under Laikera Block
As per the reports, the accused has been working as a helper in a private bus, he along with one more person forcefully brought the girl to an abandoned building near the Jharsuguda Bus stand and was forcing themselves, when they were filmed by some passerby.
After video went viral, Jharsuguda SP Bikash Chandra Dash immediately ordered enquiry into the matter and with the help Jharsuguda IIC Sabitri Bal and IIC Saudamini Bag, Govt. Railway Police, Jharsuguda, the main accused was apprehended.
The accused has been handed over to the IIC, GRPS Jharsuguda for necessary action. However, the second accused in this case is still absconding efforts are made to trace him also.
