BMJD HOLDS KALASH YATRA AT JHARSUGUDA
Jharsuguda : Members of Biju Mahila Janata Dal activist took out a Kalash Yatra here on Sunday in protest against construction of barrages by Chhattisgarh Government on the upstream of river Mahanadi.
Hundreds of women, led by Minister for Handloom, Textile and Handicraft Snehangini Chhuria, BMJD state women wing’s president Pramilla Mallick, BJD Party Vice-president Surjya Narayan Patro, BJD District President Kishore Kumar Mohanty, took out a procession from Man Mohan M.E. Ground to Bus Stand in the town after collected water in earthen pots from a water tanker which has brought water from river Mahanadi.
The activist later broke the water-filled earthen pot in front of the egffy of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati and her deputy Sanjeev Balyan at Bus stand.
The ruling party has alleged that Chhattisgarh Government has planned a series of large projects on the Mahanadi without any approval of the Odisha Government.
