Jharsuguda Police Returns 89 Recovered Mobile Phones to Their Rightful Owners at Mobile Handover Mela
Jharsuguda: In a commendable citizen-centric initiative, the Jharsuguda Police organized a Mobile Handover Mela on 5th August 2026 at the District Police Office, Jharsuguda, where 89 lost, missing, and stolen mobile phones were returned to their rightful owners.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police G.R. Raghavendra, IPS, reflecting the department’s continued commitment to public service and the effective use of technology in policing.
The recovered mobile phones were traced through continuous technical tracking by the Jharsuguda Cyber Cell in close coordination with police stations across the district. The highest number of recoveries was made by Jharsuguda Police Station (29), followed by Badmal (11), Brajarajnagar P.S. (7), Sadar, Lakhanpur and CC & EO Police Stations (6 each), Orient Police Station (5), Laikera and Kolabira (4 each), Rengali (3), and Airport and Belpahar Police Stations (1 each).
With this initiative, Jharsuguda Police has now successfully conducted five phases of the Mobile Handover Mela, during which a total of 413 lost and stolen mobile phones have been recovered and returned to their genuine owners.
The police have appealed to the public to report any lost or stolen mobile phones immediately through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal or at the nearest police station. Prompt reporting significantly improves the chances of tracking and recovering stolen devices.
The Mobile Handover Mela once again highlights Jharsuguda Police’s dedication to leveraging technology for efficient policing while strengthening public trust through timely recovery and return of valuable belongings.
