JSW & JFE Steel Corporation unveil ‘JSW JFE Steel Ltd’, mark new phase of Indo-Japanese partnership

Jharsuguda: In a landmark ceremony signalling a new chapter in Indo-Japanese industrial collaboration, JSW Steel and Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation on Thursday unveiled the new corporate identity of their 50:50 joint venture “JSW JFE Steel Limited” covering integrated steel operations at Sambalpur in Odisha.
The event was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sampalpur MLA Jay Narayan Mishra, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal, JSW Group’s Parth Jindal, JFE Holdings president & CEO Yoshihisa Kitano, and Japanese Ambassador Keiichi Ono.
The renaming of the entity, formerly JSW Sambalpur Steel Ltd, also marked 15 years of the JSW–JFE strategic alliance. The new identity reflects the integration of JSW’s operational strength with JFE’s advanced steelmaking technology, reinforcing a partnership that began in 2009.
Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha said, “The JSW–JFE partnership is not merely a steel venture but a bold statement of industrial ambition. With the overall venture poised to surpass ₹30,000 crore, this initiative will cement Odisha’s position in the global steel landscape and build a future-ready industrial corridor in the heart of the state. It is a living embodiment of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s Purvodaya Vision of driving India’s growth through the rise of the East, as Odisha advances with purpose and pride towards a Samruddha Odisha and the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat 2047”

Strategically located in Odisha, the facility benefits from robust rail and road connectivity and proximity to key iron ore reserves, ensuring raw material security and cost efficiency. The plant produces a diverse range of flat and long steel products, including hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, catering to sectors such as automotive, infrastructure, construction and capital goods.
