Tyre Shop Burgled, Goods Worth Over ₹22 Lakh Stolen

Jharsuguda: A tyre shop situated near Biju Patnaik Chowk in Badmal, Jharsuguda, was reportedly burgled, with unidentified miscreants making away with 104 tyres valued at over ₹22 lakh, along with cash from the premises, under the Badmal Police station limits.
According to a police official, the incident came to light on the morning of October 7, 2025, when the shop owner, Nilesh Mundra (40), proprietor of M/s Mundra Tyres, arrived to open his premises for routine business. Upon inspection, he found that the shutter lock had been tampered with, a window was broken, and several tyres were missing from the storehouse. An estimated ₹4,000 in cash was also reported to have been stolen.
The burglary is suspected to have taken place during the night hours of October 6 and 7, when unknown culprits broke into the premises. Preliminary investigation suggests that the miscreants may have used a vehicle to transport the stolen goods, given the large quantity and weight of the tyres.
Mundra, a resident of Jhanda Chowk under Jharsuguda police limits, lodged a formal complaint at Badmal Police Station late on October 8, following which a case was registered under Sections 331(4)/305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have begun a detailed probe into the incident and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
