Jharsuguda youth duped of Rs 81,000 in credit card fraud

Jharsuguda: A young man from Kudapali village in Jharsuguda district was duped of Rs 81,000 in a credit card fraud on Sunday. The victim, identified as Manoj Kumar Pradhan, received a message on his mobile phone about increasing his credit card limit. When he clicked on the link in the message, an AnyDesk application was downloaded on his phone.

Shortly afterwards, a person calling himself a bank official called Pradhan and asked him to do a transaction. Pradhan was then instructed to share his credit card details and OTP. After sharing the details, Pradhan realised that he had been duped. He immediately went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The police launched an investigation and contacted the bank. The bank was able to block the transaction and refund Rs 55,000 to Pradhan. The police are still trying to track down the fraudsters.

This is the latest in a series of credit card frauds that have been reported in Jharsuguda district. In recent months, several people have been duped out of lakhs of rupees in similar scams. The police have warned people to be wary of such messages and to never share their credit card details with anyone over the phone.
