Gaushala Renovation Inaugurated by Jharsuguda MLA; Boost to Kamadhenu Yojana and Dairy Development

Jharsuguda:In a move to revive traditional dairy infrastructure and promote self-employment through animal husbandry, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy on Wednesday inaugurated the newly renovated century-old cowshed (Gaushala) at Marwari Para in the municipal limits of Jharsuguda. The renovation work was undertaken by JSW Foundation as part of its CSR initiative.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony, MLA Tripathy emphasized the historical significance of the Gaushala, which has stood for over 140 years. He appreciated the collective support from the community in restoring the facility and assured that further development work would be initiated soon.
Highlighting the state government’s focus on dairy farming, the MLA spoke about the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, which aims to boost milk production across Odisha. He encouraged youth and women, especially from SC and ST communities, to take up dairy farming, citing that the government offers up to 70% subsidy for purchasing cows.
Tripathy also announced that on July 2, the district administration will facilitate a special buyer-seller meet involving registered cattle suppliers and interested dairy farmers. “This will enable aspiring entrepreneurs from rural areas to access high-yield cattle and kickstart dairy ventures with ease,” he said.
“The twin benefits of employment generation and increase in local milk production will help Jharsuguda youths become self-reliant and financially secure,” he added.
JSW Foundation’s Neelam Singh, HOD (Civil) Mihir Mishra, and CSR Head Vishal Raj were present on the occasion. The event was presided over by Gaushala Committee President Sandeep Awasthi.
The Gaushala’s rejuvenation is expected to serve not just as a shelter for cows, but also as a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the region through structured dairy development and training programs.
